For the Arbor beta on iPhone and Android. Last updated 1 October 2026.
Arbor is in early testing: on iPhone through TestFlight, and on Android as a test build you install yourself. Everything you write in it is saved on your phone, so most answers below are about keeping that data safe.
Sending feedback
On iPhone, take a screenshot while using Arbor and choose Share Beta Feedback, or open the TestFlight app, choose Arbor and tap Send Beta Feedback. On Android, tell the person who sent you the test build, or write to us. Tell us what you expected and what happened. Please leave out anything private about the people in your circle. You can also write to anastasiia@friendshipritual.com or integralayush@gmail.com.
Adding people
On iPhone you can type a person in or choose them from your contacts. On Android you type them in: Arbor has no access to your contacts there, so it never asks for that permission.
Backing up
Arbor does not sync or back up to a server. In the app, open Settings and choose Export a backup, then save the file somewhere you trust, such as Files on iPhone, a folder you pick on Android, or a computer. The file is readable and holds everything you wrote, so treat it like a private note. Export again after adding things you would not want to lose.
Moving to a new phone, or restoring
Install Arbor on the new phone, choose “I have an Arbor backup”, then Restore from a backup, and pick your file. Arbor shows what the backup contains and asks before replacing anything. A backup of the whole phone is not enough on its own: the key that unlocks Arbor’s database stays on the original phone. If Arbor says it cannot open your circle, restore from an Arbor export. Arbor keeps the unreadable file rather than deleting it.
Reminders
Arbor asks to send notifications only after you set your first reminder. If you said no, your reminders still appear on Today; you can turn notifications on in your phone’s Settings app, under Arbor (on Android, under Apps, then Arbor, then Notifications). Reminders are scheduled about two months ahead, so open Arbor now and then to keep them coming. Focus modes, Do Not Disturb and your notification settings always apply, and some Android battery savers can delay a reminder.
Deleting your data
In Arbor, open Settings and choose Delete all Arbor data. That removes every person, note, moment, reminder and draft from the phone, cancels Arbor’s notifications and deletes the encryption key. Deleting the app has the same effect. Exports you saved elsewhere are yours to delete; we never hold a copy. See the privacy notice for details.
